New Wool Colours, a Sock Pattern, and a Vintage Knitting Machine

I've always had a soft spot for vintage items, especially when there's a bit of mystery and history attached. This week I found a real gem: a Brother KH820 knitting machine from 1974 at the local thrift store! It looks like it's been sitting in a dusty attic for the past few decades. Dust everywhere, a bit of mould here and there (cosy), and I swear I even saw a woodlouse scuttling into a corner. Old finds always come with their own little ecosystem.

So what's on the agenda today? Cleaning and seeing if it still works. I'm not normally much of a cleaning hero (life's too short), but when the difference is this visible, I'm happy to put in the effort. There's something incredibly satisfying about bringing an old machine back to life, and I hope this one has a few more projects left in it.

What else is happening

While the machine gets its beauty treatment, plenty is happening behind the scenes too. New colours are drying as I write this, and I can't wait to show them to you. Nice and bright, cheerful, and perfect for spring knits, or whatever mood you're in.

I'm also working on designing a new sock pattern that's specifically well suited to gradient and variegated yarns. If you've ever gone looking for a pattern that plays nicely with those busy colour transitions, this one will be for you. Simple enough to let the yarn shine, but with just enough detail to stay interesting to knit.

And yes, I know... I still need to get all my patterns onto the website. It's on the list. Somewhere.

That was it for now. Time to roll up my sleeves, grab a cloth, and see if this Brother KH820 still wants to knit a stitch or two.
