Diving into Color: My Adventure with Hand-Dyed Wool

If you had told me a year ago that I would be starting my own wool dyeing business, I probably would have laughed out loud. My career has been in the medical field—serious, structured, and, let’s face it, often quite gray. I love my job, but I also needed something to express my creativity, something full of color, texture, and inspiration. And so I stumbled into the wonderful world of hand-dyed wool.

Knitting and crocheting have always been a part of my life, and I’ve long been fascinated by the magic of hand-dyed wool. The endless hues, the way colors blend and dance across the fibers, and the tension of a skein transforming into something unique—it’s pure art. I find my inspiration everywhere: the deep blue ocean, a warm autumn forest, or the soft gradients of a sunset over a mountain landscape. Every skein of wool I dye carries a touch of that wonder.

This is my very first dive into entrepreneurship, and there is so much to learn! From perfecting dyeing techniques to setting up an online store—every step is a new adventure. But that’s exactly what makes it so much fun. This isn’t just about selling yarn; it’s about exploring, experimenting, and most of all, having fun. I’m starting small, with careful color combinations and unique assigned pooling yarns that will become my signature. I want every maker who works with my yarn to feel the same excitement I feel when creating.
